Why a Third Disk Tray?
Ask any knowledgeable engineer the purpose behind RAID and you'll be told
its function is to improve the availability of a computer system. While
this is completely true, the convenient hot swap disk trays in Accordance
ARAID units offer the small office environment an attractive alternative to
time-consuming and unreliable tape backups with minimal additional
investment.
The ARAID line all includes RAID 1 capabilities for your choice of IDE,
SATA, and notebook drives. All come standard with two sliding trays holding
your hard drives. In RAID 1 mode, all data is duplicated or "mirrored" to
both drives. In the event of a drive failure, the tray containing the
defective drive is removed from the ARAID-equipped computer, which is still
operating normally with the surviving drive. The defective drive is replaced
and the tray reinserted. The ARAID recognizes the new drive and
automatically starts copying data from the surviving drive at rate of 1GB
per minute. You've just hot-swapped a hard drive with no system downtime
and a only few minutes of effort. |
